This year Fenton will be celebrating the 20th year for the Fenton Freedom Festival. As July 4th falls on Sunday the Fenton Freedom Festival will be held on Friday, July 2nd and Saturday, July 3rd. Therefore, the parade will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2010. The parade starts at 10:00am rain or shine. Please be in position and ready to go at 9:30am.
Once again the parade committee is requesting that all units in the parade follow the 4th of July theme in the decorating of their unit. We also ask that floats provide music throughout the parade.
The staging area for the parade line-up is on Caroline, West and Grant Street. The type of unit will determine your position in the staging area. If your unit includes the pulling of a trailer or any other item you will be on Grant Street. These units enter the staging area at the corner of Grant and Fenway Drive. By doing so, you will be correctly positioned for entry into the parade route. Please do not attempt to enter at any other location as there is not room for units with trailers to turn around once you are on Grant Street. If your unit involves walkers, have them meet with the unit on Grant Street. There is no parking inside the staging area, so walkers should park on one of the side streets.
Due to pending street construction in the City, the parade route is being developed. We will have marshals along the route to give you any assistance you may need. They will also monitor to ensure the parade rules are being followed. If you are falling behind the unit in front of you they will request you close the gap. If you are too close to the unit in front of you they will request you slow down to obtain the proper spacing assigned at the start of the parade.
